Inspired by the brutal trench warfare of World War I, Thompson envisioned a compact, single-handed machine gun capable of delivering rapid-fire at close quarters. The M1/M1A1 variant, renowned for its mass-production-friendly design, became a staple for non-commissioned officers, tank crews, paratroopers, and scouts from 1942 onwards.
Tomytec’s “Little Armory” series brings to life pre-World War II firearms that laid the groundwork for modern weaponry. The Thompson M1/M1A1 model kit, a frequent star of movies and TV shows, is expertly rendered in 1/12 scale, featuring dual-molded colors to replicate its wooden and metal components. Unlike the M1928 model, this kit boasts a press-processed receiver and simplified sight, meticulously replicated for authenticity. Modelers can choose between an open or closed bolt receiver, and select either a 20-round or 30-round magazine to customize their display.
